What is “Love, Funk, & Break-up Art Challenge”?

“Bang Bang, My baby shot me down....” and the song fades away. There are no fairy tales. Love is a b*tch and she knows it.

The theme of this challenge is “Love, Funk, & Break-up”. It centers on the concept that defines the Phokki platform - a marketplace for personalized art gifts, perhaps for lovers as well as ex-lovers. Think that you've got a unique way to express love, or break-up? Go for it; let the world see your talent!

Her professional experience includes a role of concept designer at Asia’s renowned gaming company-Asiasoft Corp, a digital artist at Imaginary Friends Studios. At the present, she is an inspiring freelance illustrator-designer.

Wendy has been in the digital art industry since 1999. Her work portfolio includes various love story novel cover illustrations as well as various design works. Currently, she is teaching digital painting at LCCNET center in Taiwan.

We encourage everyone to participate, even if you do not think that your artistic skills are top-notch, because we, and the world, love to see the creative side of you too :). However, please bear in mind that this theme centers on personalized art gifts.

How to win

The Art Challenge

The winning entry will be selected based on maximum number of votes and the top 25 entries with the most votes will be judged by reputable artists.

Voting shall be from 11 May – 23 May 2009. Your artworks will be voted by Phokki members who are addicted art lovers. The Top 25 entries will enter the final round after which a panel of judges will select a winner.

The Free Gift

Phokki team will look through the list of artworks requested and performed in relation to this art challenge. The artwork will be selected based on creativity and concept. If your artwork is selected, a print of your artwork will be internationally shipped to the person who visits your Phokki page, and submits the original image for you to produce that artwork. We will still consider your artwork even though you decide not to charge and offer it for free. However, in the event that your artwork is selected and you decide to charge for the artwork, the artwork fee is still chargeable to the person but the print will be free.

 

When will be the Results?

The winners for both the Contest and the Free Gift will be announced on 30 May 2009 4 June 2009. The winners will be notified via email, as well as featured on Phokki.com.

Can I participate in the art challenge after the voting period has started?

Yes, you may do so. However, you will have less time to get votes.

How to submit an entry to the contest?

In order to join the contest, you are required to log in and create a new style. After you log in to your account, navigate to "My Styles" (it is one of the tabs on the top right area), and select "Create a new style". You may upload the before and after there. Furnish with the rest of the details. Once your style is successfully created, click on the “Join the contest” button, and you are done!

I have already created a new style, do I have to do anything else to join the contest?

You are required to select the styles you wish to participate in the contest individually by clicking on the “Join the contest” button.

Is there a limit on number of entries I can submit?

No, please feel free to submit as many as you like. Explode your creativity!

What is the size of the artwork entry?

The minimum size of 1000 pixels x 1000 pixels. Please see Phokki Artist Starter Guide for more information.

Can I use more than 1 image to produce the artwork?

Yes, definitely.

Can I use existing artworks to participate in the contest?

You may do so. However, please be informed that each artwork (art-style) will be allowed to participate in only 1 contest throughout your membership lifetime.
